Narrowing Down on a Worthy Goal
This week in ISM, we spent a large portion of our time on developing an idea for our original work. I spent time going in-depth over how a feasible project could look like given the time frame. Through the process of eliminations and advice from my peers, I narrowed down on an original work proposal. I plan on testing algorithms and strategies on a single stock and use backtesting methods on historical data for finding algorithm accuracy. I will then use the most accurate algorithms and strategies I find and compile and/or derive them further. These algorithms and strategies will then be tested in real-time and historical data. Theoretically, if this was to go as planned, I will have created a custom analysis strategy for a particular stock. I also planned a future for the project where the aforementioned techniques could be automated using computational power. This would help create multiple such algorithms and strategies for various stocks and indexes.
I now have a goal in mind. So this narrows down quite a bit on tasks to perform and pathways to try out. I have a better idea of the type of guidance I require and the resources I need to move forward from here.
