Exploring Ideas
The previous week of FISD's ISM program consisted mainly of refining our resumes and working on a final draft. I was able to add more to my resume's content and fine-tune the design to settle on a simplistic theme. We further worked on our ISM topic proposals, which was a great way to map out my purpose in ISM.
I spent a large part of this week understanding different tradeable securities and understanding what I need to study more. I thought out what a path for more research could be. I have started out learning more about the derivative market and have also developed a contact in the field. I am still in the process of securing an interview. I started by studying more about options trading and analysis through the use of 'Greeks.' The options market could be a great area to research as unlike stocks, options are simply a contract which gives you the right but not the obligation to exercise it. This means that the maximum loss encounterable is only the premium paid. I'd like to continue this research and learn more about how computational power can help with algorithms and time latency in options trading.
As ISM progresses, I have noticed quite a spike in my overall understanding of financial markets and look forward to what comes next.
