Better Discussions, Better Guidance

The highlight of this week in ISM were my two first informational interviews. I had the great opportunity to interview professionals Will Edelmuth and Isaac Richard III. With my interview with Mr. Edelmuth on October 8th, 2020, I was able to gain more insightful information about the derivatives market as well as understand the world of high-frequency trading(HFT). This understanding supplemented discussions about the code of conduct and competitive strategies employed by high-frequency traders a part of the business. We further discussed a few technical aspects of computation that could very well be a key to my project's future plans.

My interview with Mr. Richard that took place on October 18th helped me understand aspects of an industry supplemental to securities trading: wealth management. We discussed in depth the mitigation of risk to an extent and went into the details of how wealth management functions for corporations and individuals. Mr. Richard also helped guide me through how to plan out a successful business. We also discussed the importance of networking in the finance world and how connections can make a substantial impact on an entire corporation.

After this week in ISM, I can say I am more accustomed to conducting informational interviews and what path to follow for an efficient discussion. Once again, I'd like to thank both Mr. Edelmuth and Mr. Richard for their time and insightful guidance. I will surely be implementing the advice received from both professionals in my research.
